The opportunity today is like getting into Bitcoin Mining back in 2009.
Our Thesis
This is one of those pivotal moments in blockchain history. With ETH 2.0 & multiple PoS layer-1 blockchain protocols slated to launch early 2020, it's an opportunity for developers & students to enter the blockchain space & learn how to build one of the few viable business models that can earn money: staking-as-a-service.
The Conference Objectives
Bring About More Decentralization
Right now, only a handful of staking-as-a-service companies are top validators (miners) across multiple PoS blockchain networks. This is dangerous as it will put too much power into the hands of these early participants. By teaching more people to run validators, we will make these blockchain networks more secure and resilient.
New Opportunities For Wealth Creation
Early participants (PoS miners) who run validators will play an important role in the infrastructure of multiple blockchain ecosystems. Because of this, many foundations are running incentivized testnets & giving out money grants in order to get more early technical participants. This lowers the barrier to entry since developers won't need a lot of capital to be a validator.
Incentive-Aligned Education
The learning curve for blockchain is steep. Developers are not incentivized to get deep into the space because it's too much work with too little reward. By changing the edu narrative, we propose getting developers to invest a few hours learning how to set up a validator, start earning (and losing) $$ rewards, and then have them dig into the tech.
How Does A Virtual Summit Work?
The virtual conference will work like this:
The speakers have 30min to speak; they can tune in from anywhere in the world to share their knowledge.
The audience can interact with the speaker and ask questions (there is a 15-30min Q/A slot per speaker).
Due to video bandwidth issues, there actually will be limited spots (so we can make sure things won't crash). So in all seriousness, please don't wait till the last second to sign up. Make sure to claim your ticket asap to reserve your spot.
